Welcome back to my world!
As we progress on our journey towards achieving par
excellence in whatever we do as Business Development ‘Gladiators’ it is very
important to first contemplate on what true Leadership really is. And why am I
emphasizing on ‘Leadership’ when all that we need to know about are the
Triggers I talked about in my first blog to you?
To begin a journey which will encompass several personal and
professional attributes that will finally create a new YOU as a BDE, it is very
vital first to understand the true meaning of LEADERSHIP. This is a key component
in your pursuit towards Excellence and therefore a must to contemplate on.
During the several Leadership workshops that I have attended
over the years conducted by a host of leadership ‘Gurus’, I have not even once
heard them speak of the true essence of leadership! While all of them have
spoken of various types of leadership and its constituents such as: Strategic
Thinking, Man Management, Integrity, Loyalty, Vision, Planning and whatever
have you…none of them ever threw light on the very concept of Leadership. What
these so called ‘Gurus’ describe is not the essence of Leadership but merely
its traits. It is like describing a beautiful shirt by its color, texture and
prints while ignoring its very basic fabric! The millions of soft gossamer like
cotton fibers made to entwine into strands of thread further closely knitted
into a fabric with a texture so awesomely soft and pliant and yet tough enough
to last almost a lifetime!
Hence, therefore, what is Leadership?
Leadership is not merely a matter of learning techniques,
mental formulas and physical traits. Real leadership is a direct function of
what we are and what we possess within and beyond ourselves in order to think
from a higher level of consciousness. It is about discovering the very basic
fabric that we exist of and not what we are supposed to be seeped in or what we
need to finally become.
To discover the awe-inspiring leadership that already exists
within you, you will first have to connect with your very Inner Being and
discover the enormous Powers that exist within you embedded by the Universe,
for you to seize every moment of your existence and turn it into splendid masterpieces
of creativity and deliverance!
It is when you finally discover your Inner Being will all the
traits that the world talks about will be found by you readily Within to exercise
at will and to exist beyond a state of ‘self-ego’ to a wondrous state of
selflessness leading each moment of your life in bliss and in harmony with the
external. It is then that you will be able to think from a higher level of consciousness
and become the true Leader both personally and professionally.
And of course, there is a way to achieve this. Let’s discover
this next Monday together…
